Rules that matter

The reserve stays better when visitors keep it simple

The rules are there for a reason: health, safety and respect for the forest. If you follow them, you help protect both wildlife and your own visit.

Health warning

Similipal sits in a high cerebral malaria prone zone. Visitors should take appropriate anti-malarial precautions before travel and stay alert to symptoms.

No alcohol, non-veg, plastics

Alcohol, non-vegetarian food, plastic and non-biodegradable litter are strictly prohibited. Carry waste back out with you.

No drones or loud devices

Firearms, explosives, poisons, drones, speakers, car stereos, transistors and loud horns are not allowed.

Respect the animals and the road

Do not get out of the vehicle except at designated eco-tourism points. Keep to the road, move slowly and never chase wildlife.

Respect the wilderness

The simple behavior rules are the ones that matter most

If it adds noise, litter, speed or stress, leave it out. If it adds patience, caution and respect, it probably belongs.

Do not shout, tease, feed or chase wild animals.

Drive slowly and stick strictly to the specified roads and tracks.

Wear dull or earth-toned clothing so the wildlife is less disturbed.

Travel well

Use the forest in a way that leaves it wild for the next visitor

Good tourism is quiet, careful and low-impact. Read the permit, route and gate pages together before you go.
